Lev. 23:1-2 (NKJV) 1 The LORD spoke to Moses and said to him: 2 “Speak to the children of Israel and say to them: The appointed feasts of the LORD, which you shall proclaim as holy convocations, these are-
Lev. 23:4 (NIV) 4 These are the appointed feasts of the Lord, holy convocations which you shall proclaim on their appointed dates-
Note that these are the Feasts or Appointed Times of God, not of Moses, nor of the Jews. They are not “traditional” celebrations exclusive to a certain religion, they are instructions from God for EVERY person who is part of His people. Remember that in the context and the moment in which God gives the instruction of these special appointments between Him and His People, He is speaking to all of Israel and the foreigners who have been grafted into it. They are for ALL His people and they are FOREVER.
That is why it says: (NIV) This will be a perpetual statute for all your descendants, wherever they live. (Lev. 23:14)
That is also why the prophet Zechariah says about the end times: Zech. 14:16 (NLT) 16 And it will happen that everyone who is left of all the nations that came against Jerusalem will go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles (of Shelters).
They have a tremendous meaning and teaching for those of us who are part of His People. They are a teaching tool through which we learn and experience spiritual principles that show us God’s plan of salvation for His People through the Messiah Yeshua-Jesus Christ and teach us about the reconciliation we have with the Father through Him.
Let’s make important to us what is important to Him, let’s get ready to celebrate with our Beloved! Here we share our calendar of feasts for this cycle so that you keep it in mind and in time you can make the necessary arrangements to celebrate these festivities established by God for those who are part of His people. Shalom!
————————-> TECHNICAL NOTE for our dear friends who like more detail: This calendar is made to make it easier for anyone who wants to prepare to celebrate the Biblical Feasts on the date that the Jewish people have celebrated them since the dispersion. Before the dispersion, this Hillel calendar was not used, but rather the physical observation of the lunar cycles in Israel to establish the beginning of the months, which was later validated by the Sanhedrin. That is another story.
Our purpose in sharing this calendar for free is that you can anticipate the dates in the commonly used Gregorian calendar to make the work, economic, etc. preparations necessary to observe the Biblical Feasts.
Not all traditional Jewish celebrations are included, such as the New Year of the Trees and the different fasts of the year. Note also that in Hillel’s calendar the year begins in the seventh month or Tishri during the Feast of Trumpets as established by the rabbinical order as opposed to the Biblical indication of the beginning of the year in Abib with the barley harvest. In the rabbinical count we are in the year 5782 of creation.
We include the Feast of Dedication and Purim with the indication that they are traditional festivals since they are mentioned in the Bible in the gospel of John and in the book of Esther. They are not festivals ordained by God in perpetuity.
